Funding Process

Successful, Proven Methodology

The team at American Law Firm Funding, LLC has spent over 20 years refining our legal funding process to best serve your firm. We have simplified our Underwriting and Funding criteria into four Stages A-D below followed by optional Stage E Post Funding Services.

Each stage covers various due diligence items to match your law firm loan attributes and goals with the proper capital partner. We will be focusing on helping you with “The Business of Law” not the Practice of Law. Our ability to orchestrate capital for you is based primarily on your future legal fees, your budget, current debt and anticipated cash flow established during the Underwriting and Funding Process

You pay no fees to American Law Firm Capital for this entire pre-funding process and financial package we assemble unless we acquire the agreed upon terms and the capital you accept.

Stage A - Application

At this stage, you will provide basic, high-level information in order to match your firm goals and attributes with one of our Bridge Exchange financial partners. You will sign an application, provide recent financial information and a high-level overview of your portfolio of cases. After the ALFC team completes this initial review of your firm’s information, the goal is to then acquire a term sheet from one of our trusted Bridge Exchange partners in order to continue with the below stages.

Stage B - Due Diligence Launch

At this stage and after qualifying in Stage A, we and other Bridge Exchange partners will request a more itemized breakout of your portfolio of data points, financial information and corporate documents to begin the granular Underwriting Process in Stage C.

Stage C - Underwriting

Upon receipt of the information requested in Stage B, ALFC will “go granular” with one of our internal and/or external Bridge Exchange Partners to verify clients and supporting records in an effort for us to establish the full value of your portfolio and future cash flow. There may also be an on-site visit with your firm partners and key team members to review processes and discuss our findings. The goal during this process is to finalize a portfolio borrowing base that meets your firm’s goals, which is in alignment with our evaluation of maintaining your firm’s healthy practice.

Stage D - Documentation and Funding

The portfolio review and other details in Stages A-C are complete. At this stage, all agreed upon terms and conditions, lien payoffs, closing items and corporate authorization details are incorporated into your future agreements for your review and approval.

Stage E - Post Funding Services

We’re passionate about your continued success, as a result ALFC offers several post funding services, including but not limited to:

Funding Document Guidance – Introductions to a law firm who specializes in matching the intent of your term sheet topics agreed upon by incorporating those terms into the final funding documents.
Measuring Advertising – Assist your staff measuring your lead generation vendors and the individual case type ROI’s.
Lender Reporting – With your team’s assistance, prepare periodic reporting to your bank, Hedge Fund or other Lenders.
Trusted Vendor Introductions – As a co-founder of the National Legal Vendor Association (NLVA.law) ALFC has relationships with the Best in Class, vetted, legal vendors in the U.S. to connect you with.
